HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF AS A DOORDASH DRIVER
Scams like this are becoming more common, so here’s how to stay safe:

ALWAYS RECORD DELIVERIES – Use your phone or a dashcam to document handoffs.
TAKE PHOTOS – Even if it’s a “hand it to me” order, snap a quick pic for proof.
REPORT SUSPICIOUS CUSTOMERS – If something feels off, contact DoorDash immediately.
DON’T IGNORE RED FLAGS – Strange instructions? Unresponsive customer? Be cautious!

How to Protect Yourself: Tips for Fellow Dashers to Avoid Scams

Delivering as a Dasher can be a great way to earn money on your own schedule. But like many gig economy jobs, it also attracts scammers looking to exploit hardworking people. Whether you’re new to dashing or a seasoned pro, staying vigilant and informed is key to protecting yourself and your earnings. Here are practical tips to help you avoid scams while on the job.
1. Know How DoorDash Communicates

Scammers often pretend to be from DoorDash to trick you into giving up personal information.
✅ DoorDash will never call or text you asking for your password, PIN, or two-factor codes.
✅ Official messages from DoorDash typically come through the app, the website, or emails from an website address.

If you get a suspicious call or text claiming your account will be deactivated unless you act immediately — stop. Log in to the app directly and check for alerts.
2. Don’t Share Your Login Information

Your Dasher account is valuable — it has your earnings, your personal details, and access to deposits.
???? Never share your username, password, or verification codes with anyone, even if they claim to be from support.
If you suspect your account has been compromised, change your password immediately through the app.
3. Be Wary of Fake Orders or Customers

Some scammers pose as customers to steal food or trick you out of money. Watch out for:

Requests to deliver to an address that’s not on the order.

Customers asking you to pay for additional items out of pocket.

Requests to share your phone number or meet in a strange location.

If something seems off, contact DoorDash support through the app before proceeding.
4. Protect Your Earnings

Scammers sometimes try to get access to your banking information by pretending to help with a payout problem.
✅ Update your payment details only in the official DoorDash app or website.
✅ Monitor your earnings regularly and report any discrepancies promptly.
✅ Avoid third-party apps or websites that claim to help you “boost” your earnings — these are often traps.
5. Be Alert in the Real World Too

Not all scams are digital. Protect yourself physically while you dash:

Avoid delivering to addresses that look abandoned or dangerous.

Trust your instincts — if a situation feels unsafe, leave and report it.

Keep your car locked when you’re making deliveries, and avoid carrying more cash than necessary.

6. Educate Yourself & Stay Updated

DoorDash often shares updates about common scams and security tips. Check their help center or forums regularly. Many Dashers also share their experiences in online communities — learn from them so you know what to watch for.
Final Thoughts

As a Dasher, your safety and financial security should always come first. Scammers succeed when we panic or act without thinking. Slow down, verify any unusual requests, and never feel pressured to give out information or money on the spot.

By staying informed and cautious, you can focus on what you signed up for — delivering, earning, and moving toward your goals.
